The Basics of My Classroom
Greetings! I teach two specials at Saint Ann—Art and PE. Most students love one or the other . . . Or both! I know I love both subjects and am always eager to get started in our gym and art room. My philosophy in both areas is simple—get moving! In PE, it’s not about athleticism but about discovering ways to move that are FUN . . . Activities and games that will both engage and challenge students. We certainly discuss other “Fit Kid” reminders—-nutrition, sleep habits, hygiene, safety, etc.—but mainly, we PLAY! It is my goal that students leave the gym smiling; I don’t mind if they are a bit sweaty, too!
In Art, moving means creating, and I have a hands-on approach during our sessions—we get busy! The Eagle art room is a place to take creative risks; effort is everything! My ideas for projects run the gamut, from the Masters to fun “how-to-draw” activities; students will stretch their visual talents, learning how to use the art elements and design principles in their approach.
