Accreditation of Saint Ann School
Ongoing improvement is at the heart of Saint Ann School’s educational mission. Every day our teachers and staff work tirelessly to teach, model and inspire in order to promote continuous growth in our students. They also take on the challenge of continuously improving our entire educational institution by regularly engaging in school accreditation processes.
Seeking accreditation from leading national and international organizations is one important way of ensuring that our school offers the best educational program possible. The administration of Saint Ann voluntarily submits our school to professional scrutiny by AdvancED/SACS. AdvancED/SACS is an international organization representing both public and non-public schools. The organization evaluates important issues such as organizational excellence, curriculum, professional development, governance, equity and leadership. The goal of AdvancED/SACS is to work to strengthen creativity and innovation in accredited schools and promote the highest quality educational standards and ethical conduct.
Saint Ann School engages in continuous improvement because its leadership believes in the importance of Catholic education and the mission of Saint Ann School.
Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School Award Winner
During the 2012-2013 school year, Principal Dr. Michael Morris led the administration, educators, students, and families on a journey together to go above and beyond basic accreditation to earn Saint Ann School the designation of Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School. This was a monumental process but together they were successful in meeting all nine criteria and received this designation by the end of the school year.
There are 132,183 public and private schools in the U.S, and roughly 120 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse schools, making Saint Ann School within the top 2 percent of all schools. This designation establishes Saint Ann as one of the top schools in the country. Remember that the goal of the evaluation was to determine, through the eyes of outside experts, where Saint Ann School is in relation to criteria of excellence in education. The evaluation establishes a baseline for us, as a school community, to plan effectively for the future. This is not an end but a beginning. Unlike other programs, this does not last forever; we will continue to improve and build upon what we have begun.
